ZAYDOK MUSIC
The Full Story
About ZAYDOK
Born Ziphion-Zadok Jones, ZAYDOK is an independent, semi-professional songwriter, rapper, and record producer from Miami, Florida.
Growing up in a culturally diverse family and hometown, ZAYDOK was exposed to a variety of genres at an early age. While still in High School, ZAYDOK began freestyling with friends as a fun way to pass the time, and quickly stood out for his ability to seemingly pull rhymes out of thin air. ZAYDOK would continue improving his freestyle abilities, modeling his style after artists he considered to be poets, including Nas, Lupe Fiasco, Common, and Ms. Lauryn Hill.
ZAYDOK would eventually turn to writing songs as a hobby, and would go on to record his first multi-track project during the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2021 MASK TAPE was released as a mixtape comprised of songs meant for close friends to enjoy. At the time, ZAYDOK felt the music industry was producing lyrically underwhelming "cookie-cutter" music. MASK TAPE was meant to showcase the variety of styles that originally made modern hip-hop so appealing.
Today, ZAYDOK still makes original music on a part-time basis, with his latest release, I LOVED YOU AS ICARUS LOVED THE SUN, marking the artist's first official album release.
Preceded by the well-received single, STAR SIGNS, ILYAILTS carries themes of love, hope, heartbreak, and reckoning. This conceptual album begs the question: "Who wouldn't die for something they loved, like Icarus?"
